Pet Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Annapolis, Towson, & Columbia, MD
Cat and dog hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a completely painless, non-invasive procedure that we can include in your pet’s overall treatment to improve their body’s natural healing abilities in Annapolis, Towson, and Columbia, MD. Pets experiencing acute or chronic disorders can greatly benefit from this therapy, which uses 100% oxygen and increased atmospheric pressure to raise the concentration of dissolved oxygen in their plasma. In turn, this increases oxygen delivery to tissues that are diseased or damaged. Cells need oxygen in order to function, repair themselves, respond promptly to infection, and create new bone.
How HBOT Works
The patient is placed in a comfortable hyperbaric chamber suited to their size. During their time in this chamber, they receive and calmly inhale 100% oxygen under slightly higher atmospheric pressure. All patients are monitored carefully during treatment, which can last up to an hour. Repeat treatments are permissible for pets requiring more healing time. Throughout the procedure, your pet is safe and protected.
Conditions that Benefit
HBOT can be useful in treating a variety of conditions, including:
- Tissue damage
- Post-traumatic events
- Surgery to repair and/or graft wounds
- Snake or insect-associated venom lesions
- Situations in which poor perfusion and swelling occur
